St. Jude is a place where top scientists work with superb clinicians to find preventions and cures for potentially fatal diseases of childhood. In the past 40 years, we have become an international resource for the study and treatment of catastrophic childhood diseases and have made dramatic progress in finding cures. There is much more that needs to be done.

St. Jude researchers have discovered a key factor of fatal influenza virus infection that suggests a possible new way to treat the disease and to greatly reduce the death toll of a potential worldwide pandemic like the 1918 Spanish flu.
