|Synthetic Natural Product Analogs as Anti-Cancer Agents (SJ-08-0026)|
|Description||Analogs of two bacterial natural products, FR901464 and pladienolide, that are known for their selective and potent in vivo anti-cancer activity are provided. These analogs can be made synthetically and have promising anti-cancer activity. Certain human lymphomas and some childhood tumors are potently and selectively killed by these compounds in in vitro experiments. These synthetic agents can be developed into new anti-cancer drugs. The most advanced agent, designated sudemycin F1, is a potential clinical candidate.|
