Ongoing Nursing Research Studies

Nursing Research is conducting multiple studies concerning the quality of life of St. Jude patients and their families while the patient is enrolled on a St. Jude protocol.  This research is currently underway as a study question within therapeutic protocols for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, melanoma, osteosarcoma, and Hodgkin lymphoma and a Phase I protocol for brain stem glioma.

Nursing Research is also conducting a randomized control sleep intervention study in patients hospitalized for chemotherapy, as well as exploring the biological markers associated with sleep and fatigue. The significance of sleep and fatigue in adult survivors of pediatric Hodgkin lymphoma is being explored with subjective measurement and actigraph recording of sleep and activity. Future research is directed at understanding the biological mechanism of chronic sleep and fatigue symptoms within this patient population.
