GNC is dedicated to helping its customers improve the quality of their lives and this commitment is reflected in GNC’s support of the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Since GNC joined St. Jude in the fight against cancer and other catastrophic illnesses in 2006, the company has raised more than $7.3 million for the hospital.

In 2011, more than 3,500 GNC stores in the United States and Puerto Rico participated in the St. Jude Thanks and Giving® campaign, asking customers to add a $1, $5 or $10 donation at the register. GNC once again surpassed its goal and raised an amazing $2.8 million for St. Jude.

GNC has been able to meet its aggressive fundraising goals for St. Jude thanks to Tom Dowd, executive vice president, chief merchandising officer and GM, along with GNC’s entire executive leadership team, franchise operators, and the dedicated frontline associates who make the ask of GNC’s loyal and generous customers. 

The basis of the GNC campaign is an add-on at the register, which will continue in 2012, along with a new online component where customers shopping at can add a St. Jude donation to their shopping cart. Thanks to individual store goals, daily fundraising reporting, weekly phone calls and motivational messages from GNC executives, associates are able to make goals and foster competition among divisions, regions and individual store locations. St. Jude patient stories are also shared weekly, helping to energize associates during the campaign.

Thanks to the fundraising success of partners like GNC, St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay St. Jude for anything. St. Jude is grateful to every GNC employee and is proud to call GNC a valued corporate partner.
