Corporate partners honored during 50th anniversary celebration

On June 22 - 23, St. Jude commemorated its 50th anniversary in style during a weekend celebration, and many corporate partners were on-hand to help make it a special weekend.

From a Target-sponsored concert for patients given by singer Jordin Sparks to assistance with special Board gifts and attendee gift bags/auction items, corporate partners helped make the St. Jude golden weekend celebration truly memorable. In addition, St. Jude presented several partner awards during the Thomas Family Luncheon: 

Corporate Partner of the Year: ANN INC.
ANN INC. CEO Kay Krill accepted this special award honoring a company that has raised nearly $11 million since joining the St. Jude Thanks and Giving® program in 2007. This past year alone, ANN INC. grew its fundraising results by 46 percent over the previous year, raising more than $4.2 million dollars. In addition to the traditional Thanks and Giving ask at the register, the Ann Taylor brand holiday product promotion consisted of a "Little Ann" outfit and matching adult style. Fifty percent of all full price purchases from the "Little Ann" collection and 70 percent of all full price purchases from the matching adult style benefited St. Jude. The LOFT brand sold three charms during the holiday season–$5 of each purchase was donated to St. Jude. LOFT also supported St. Jude with a special Mother’s Day promotion that raised more than $730,000.

Michael F. Tamer Award: Doug Brooks, chairman, president, and CEO of Brinker International
This special award is given to individuals who have shown an abiding commitment to St. Jude. Doug Brooks has been a long-term supporter of St. Jude. Brinker International’s flagship restaurant, Chili’s Grill & Bar, has raised more than $41 million and has made a $50 million commitment to the Chili’s Care Center. This September will mark the ninth year of the successful Create-A-Pepper campaign benefitting St. Jude. On September 24, Chili’s will also once again donate all the profits from their restaurant sales to St. Jude.

Legacy Award: Howard Lester, former chairman and CEO, Williams-Sonoma, Inc.
This award was presented posthumously to Howard Lester for his incredible impact on the St. Jude mission. Lester served as chairman and CEO of Williams-Sonoma, Inc. from 1978 to his retirement in May 2010. Since joining the St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign in 2005, Williams-Sonoma, Inc. has raised more than $18.5 million. His wife, Mary Lester, accepted this prestigious award on behalf of her husband.

In July, St. Jude honored two additional corporate partners with special awards:

Workplace Giving Partner of the Year: WellPoint
WellPoint Foundation President, Lance Chrisman accepted the award on behalf of WellPoint and their employees. Since 2003, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has been honored to have WellPoint as a valuable Workplace Giving partner. Each year WellPoint associates host events for employees to engage and learn about the St. Jude mission. As a result of the last employee giving campaign, WellPoint employees—from the executive offices to associates across the organization—will have raised nearly $3 million for St. Jude.  

New Partner of the Year: Claire’s
Territory Vice President, Tina Peroni, accepted the award for Claire’s tremendous support of St. Jude. As a first year St. Jude Thanks and Giving partner, Claire’s passionate employees and customers raised a remarkable $1.3 million for the kids of St. Jude.
