Kingsize turns it up for Music Gives

Combining the retro sounds of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd with a contemporary indie feel somewhere between the Replacements and the Cure, Kingsize is a quickly emerging LA-based rock band.

Kingsize has recently released a pair of EPs, The Good Fight and The Bad Night, and is working on its first full-length album, All These Machines.

A staple of the Southern California music scene, Kingsize has had its music featured in all types of venues. They have three songs featured in the best-selling video game Rockband 3; they wrote and performed the theme song for the CBS TV show Gary Unmarried; and they have a featured score in Philip G. Flores’s award-winning film The Wheeler Boys.

Kingsize also plays a very active role in Music Gives to St. Jude Kids, a campaign that singer Jason Thomas Gordon started to raise money and awareness for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. His grandfather, entertainer Danny Thomas, founded the hospital in 1962. Music Gives to St. Jude Kids reaches out to artists, fans and the rest of the music community to collaborate and find ways to end childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

“St. Jude is a part of my blood in the same way that music has always been. To bring them together is a great feeling,” says Gordon. “You always hear people say how music saved their life. A band or a song changed them, healed them in some way. Well, this is that expression being manifest in a very physical way. This is music truly saving lives.”

Look for Music Gives tie-ins from Kingsize at Lollapalooza this August in Chicago, as well as future shows this summer and beyond.
