An Invitation

The 6th annual FedEx/St. Jude Angels & Stars Miami Gala will be held at The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County (formerly the Carnival Center for the Performing Arts) in the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall on Saturday, May 17. There will be special performances by Valeria Gastaldi, Jeremias and Luis Fonsi. The gala will be hosted by model and television personality Daisy Fuentes and will honor Emilio and Gloria Estefan.

The Honorees

It has been said that extraordinary leaders are ordinary human beings who possess an extraordinary vision and put all of their passion, drive and ambition to bring it into fruition. This is what has made Emilio Estefan one of the most successful producers the music industry has experienced. His passion, unquestionable faith and ability to keep alive his Latin roots in everything he does have made Emilio's vision a trademark, a unique sound and symbol of credibility and prestige. As a true visionary, Emilio has continually experimented and pushed the envelope of blending Latin, pop and world rhythms that have created a unique style and personality.

Gloria and Emilio Estefan

Emilio has been instrumental in shaping, developing and directing the careers of Gloria Estefan, Shakira, Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, Jon Secada, Alejandro Fernandez, Victor Manuelle, Carlos Vives, Jennifer López, Carlos Ponce and Shalim Ortiz, among many others.

Gloria Estefan is a music superstar both in English and Spanish. In 1984, the careers of Gloria, Emilio and Miami Sound Machine went global. This happened with the recording of their first album in English, Eyes of Innocence.

After that the hits continued, including Cuts Both Ways, Anything For You, Can't Stay Away From You, Rhythm Is Gonna Get You, 1-2-3, Don't Wanna Lose You, Words Get In The Way and many others including the classic, Conga, a song that is heard worldwide and has become their signature tune. Gloria Estefan has sold over 70 million records worldwide, recorded 24 albums throughout a long and prolific career and become an icon the world over. With her feet well planted on the ground, she is an exemplary role model, as a human being and as an artist.

Emilio and Gloria have made a notable contribution to both their community and profession. The FedEx/St. Jude Angels and Stars Gala is thrilled to honor Emilio and Gloria for their commitment to international healthcare, the local community and their presence in the music and entertainment industry.

A Distinctive Organization

International Outreach

Improved therapy dramatically increased survival rates for children with cancer over the past three decades, but worldwide, fewer than 30 percent of children with cancer have access to modern treatment. The mission of International Outreach is to improve the survival rates of children with catastrophic diseases worldwide, through the transfer of knowledge, technology, and organizational skills. To learn about the International Outreach Program, please visit www.stjude.org/international.
