The Orange County Friends of St. Jude present the sixth annual Endless Summer Event
Orange County Friends of St. Jude committee.
The sixth annual Orange County Friends of St. Jude event, Endless Summer ~ Carnival in Rio, was held on Saturday, September 6, 2008, at the Newport Dunes Resort. It was an overwhelming success, raising more than $194,000 to help fight childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases.
The fundraiser brought together Orange County’s community in support of the hospital including Mike Driebe, member of the National Board of ALSAC/St. Jude. Held on the sandy beaches of Newport Bay, Carnival in Rio included a cocktail reception with an amazing silent auction and a Blue Ice Vodka Martini Bar; sunset dinner featuring Brazilian cuisine; and dancing to the The BuzzCatz who kept people on their feet with covers from Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong.
The night also included a live auction featuring a shoe wardrobe from Saks Fifth Avenue, a vacation to Panama from Copa Airlines and Bern Hotels and Resorts, and other high-end experiences that raised $25,000.
Co-chairs of the Orange County Friends of St. Jude committee, Analisa Albert, Trish Coury and Maria Schechter, were overwhelmed by the response and support. “We are so grateful to the community and the Orange County Friends of St. Jude committee for making this event a huge success, and for giving children like Claire hope for a future.” Thanks to all of our generous partners including Pete Coury, Dr. and Mrs. Bob Hamra, Liberty Stables, Dr. Michael Brenner, Saks Fifth Avenue, Black Star and Frost, AutoTrader.com, Elite Orthopedic and Sports Medicine, Victor and Lia Assad and many more local businesses and donors.
