This week, country music legends The Judds will kick off The Judds: The Last Encore, an 18-city tour that will serve as the final bow to the duo's extraordinary career. The tour will also serve as a platform to honor the ongoing relationship between St. Jude and The Judds, with 15 percent of the sales from exclusive VIP and Fan packages donated to the hospital.
Prior to announcing that St. Jude would benefit from the duo's tour, The Judds took time on July 14 to visit with St. Jude patients and families to share their love for the children and to learn more about the lifesaving work of St. Jude.
For Wynonna, it marked her second visit to the hospital. In January 2002, Wynonna visited St. Jude and served as the special guest speaker during the annual Country Cares Radio Seminar. During the seminar, country music artists and radio representatives gather at St. Jude to kick off the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids® radiothon season.
"It is always an honor and privilege for us to spend time with the children and families who benefit from the love, care and research of St. Jude," said The Judds. "Every time we are able to connect with the children, we truly marvel at the resiliency of their remarkable spirits."
Kentucky natives, The Judds are one of the most successful country music duos of all time—amassing 14 No. 1 hits and more than 60 music industry awards and captivating a massive audience with their homespun, acoustic harmonies.
After launching their career in 1984, The Judds sold 20 million albums in just six short years. By 1989, The Judds were the top-grossing and most popular touring act in America. But in 1991, at the height of their career, health reasons forced Naomi to announce her retirement from the music business. Nearly 10 years after Naomi's health turned around, the pair reunited for a farewell tour in 2000. Most recently after receiving encouragement by their 2009 CMA Music Festival performance and driven by the fans, the duo decided to tour one final time.
The Judds: The Last Encore will kick off on November 26. The tour will feature new Judds and Wynonna music from the upcoming album while also highlighting all of The Judds and Wynonna fan favorites. And for the first time ever, the duo will celebrate the holiday season during their final tour by weaving several classic Christmas songs into their set list. During the concert, The Judds will also ask their fans to show their support for St. Jude by texting JUDDS to 90999 to donate $5 to St. Jude.
