Employee volunteers served heaps of delicious ice cream outside the hospital’s cafeteria, Kay Kafe, recently to celebrate the dedicated work of St. Jude physicians in honor of the annual Doctors’ Day observance.

The hospital’s Managed Care department sponsored the event, which was a huge success as physicians, staff members, patients and families enjoyed frozen treats topped with a variety of tasty extras.

The first observance of Doctors’ Day was March 30, 1933, in Winder, Georgia, when Eudora Almond, the wife of physician Charles Almond, decided to set aside a day to honor doctors. The first National Doctors’ Day was officially recognized by the United States government on March 30, 1991.
