Memphians and residents from the greater Memphis area gathered May 7, 2011, at the Peabody Hotel Grand Ballroom to celebrate the Memphis St. Jude Gala. More than 400 guests attended the event, formerly known as the Marguerite Piazza St. Jude Gala.
Guests enjoyed a night filled with cocktails, dinner and dancing with live music performed by Party Planet, and a guest performance from Jason D. Williams. The gala featured a silent auction and a live auction with Jeff Morris conducting as auctioneer. St. Jude patient Ellen stole the show by singing her rendition of the national anthem, and the highlight of the evening was Piazza’s presentation of The Marguerite Piazza Healing Rose Humanitarian Award. This year, the award was presented to Phil Cannon, FedEx St. Jude Classic Tournament Director. The award has been given for the past 23 years to recipients who have made significant contributions in support of St. Jude.
