The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the pre-eminent men's professional basketball league in North America, and is widely considered to be the premier men's professional basketball league in the world. It has 30 franchised member clubs (29 in the United States and 1 in Canada).

St. Jude has been a Community Partner of NBA Cares, the league’s philanthropic arm, since 2009 and works with the league across some of its major events (NBA All-Star, NBA Summer League). Additionally, NBA Cares dedicates a week in February/March to raise funds and awareness for St. Jude in-arena, online and through game broadcasts (Hoops for St. Jude Week). During the 2012-13 NBA Season, St. Jude also partnered with ESPN and The V Foundation to expand the reach and fundraising capacity of the campaign.
In total, NBA Cares, player ambassadors, coaches, teams, trainers, physicians and fans have raised more than $900,000 for the kids of St. Jude and have garnered more than one billion media impressions. NBA stars, including Pau Gasol, Kevin Love, Marc Gasol and David Lee serve as ambassadors for the Hoops for St. Jude campaign.
