An Invitation

The 7th annual FedEx/St. Jude Angels & Stars Miami Gala will be held at The InterContinental Miami on Saturday, May 16, 2009. The gala will be hosted by model and television personality Daisy Fuentes and will include another year of astounding performances by acclaimed Latin musicians.

2008 Honoree

In 2008, the FedEx/St. Jude Angels & Stars Miami Gala honored Emilio and Gloria Estefan for their commitment to International healthcare, the local community and their presence in the music and entertainment industry.

In addition to honoring this amazing couple, guests were treated to live performances by Luis Fonsi, Jeremías and Valeria Gastaldi. During the night's entertainment, Emilio Estefan took to the stage alongside Victor Manuelle for an unforgettable impromptu performance. In previous years Jose Feliciano, Cristian Castro, Fanny lu, Albita, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Luis Enrique, Eduardo Osorio, Javier Garcia, the late Soraya and others have also supported St. Jude by performing at the gala.

The money raised from this event will help St. Jude continue its groundbreaking research and lifesaving care for children from across the country and around the world who are battling cancer and other deadly diseases. 

No place in the world does for children what St. Jude does.

  • In 1962, the survival rate for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), the most common form of childhood cancer, was 4%. Today, the survival rate for this once deadly disease is 94% thanks to research and treatment protocols developed at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
  • St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance. No child is ever denied treatment because of the family’s inability to pay.
  • During the past three years, 84 cents of every dollar received has supported the research and treatment at St. Jude.
  • Doctors at St. Jude have treated children from all 50 states and from around the world. St. Jude’s scientific discoveries are freely shared with scientific and medical communities across the globe.
  • St. Jude has improved therapy and dramatically increased survival rates for children with cancer over the past three decades, but worldwide, fewer than 30% of children with cancer have access to modern treatment. Through the International Outreach Program St. Jude continues its mission to improve the survival rates of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases worldwide, through the sharing of knowledge, technology, and organizational skills. International Outreach transfers the progress achieved in the treatment of childhood cancer in developed countries to those with limited resources.
