St. Jude treats patients and their families to Halloween fun
Photography by Peter Barta & Justin Veneman
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital faculty and staff disguised themselves as masked superheroes, Olympians, familiar cartoon characters, swashbuckling pirates and a variety of other costumes as the hospital transformed its clinics, hallways and other areas into a Halloween haven for patients and siblings.
Children visited a total of 48 trick-or-treat stops throughout the hospital, where their treat bags were piled with tasty sweets.
The event is organized by the St. Jude Child Life Program to provide patients a chance to take part in festivities they might otherwise miss while undergoing treatment. Employees from physicians and nurses to bench scientists to office personnel take part in selecting themes and decorating the booths for the annual Halloween celebration.
