HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filtration is a system whereby an advanced technology is used to remove large particles from the air. The purpose of HEPA filtration is to reduce the chance of inhaling larger particles, which may be infectious and lead to complications. At St. Jude, the entire Patient Care Center including the Transplant Unit and Transplant Clinic is protected by HEPA filtration.
