Washington D.C.’s elite gathered on November 29, 2007, at Saks Fifth Avenue in Chevy Chase, Maryland, for the inaugural Saks Fifth Avenue Charles Nolan Fashion Presentation.

More than 200 guests were treated to a special fashion show featuring the Holiday and Resort Collections of designer Charles Nolan. Following the fashion show, attendees were invited to the store’s third floor for private shopping where general manager Edward Heller announced that Saks would donate a portion of the proceeds of the evening’s sales of items from the Charles Nolan collection to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The event raised more $70,000 on behalf of St. Jude and the St. Jude Thanks and Giving® campaign.

“There was such a strong feeling of good will and holiday cheer,” said Eunice Mazloom, St. Jude Professional Advisory Board member who co-chaired the fashion committee with Anjanette Murphy. “We were able to increase awareness and introduce more people to the amazing work being done at St. Jude, while raising funds that will help continue its life-saving mission.”

One of the highlights of the evening was when Mazloom shared the story of Maria Cardenas, a former St. Jude patient who now works as the Bilingual Marketing Representative in the Mid-Atlantic regional office of ALSAC, the fundraising organization of St. Jude.

Guests included Nicole Chedid of Lebanon, Nermin Fahmy from Egypt, former UPI White House Correspondent Helen Thomas and Ambassador Lindy Boggs. In addition, the event was supported by members of the St. Jude National and Professional Advisory Boards including Terri Phelps Carr, Randa Fahmy Hudome, Ann Tanous and Peter Tanous.

This event was possible thanks to the generous support of the following companies and individuals: Saks Fifth Avenue, The Willard InterContinental, Issa Family Foundation, Lynx Investment Advisory, LLC, James & Paula Coburn Foundation, Goldman, Sachs & Company, PhRMA, , Katherine Bradley, Lara Hines, Susan Jordan, April McClain-Delaney and Donna Tschiffely.
