On March 11, Kay Jewelers took St. Jude patients and their families “around the world” at a special multicultural festival. The Danny Thomas/ALSAC Pavilion was transformed into a fun-filled celebration of 10 selected countries: India, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, China, Greece, Sweden and the United States. Each country was represented at themed stations with plenty of games and prizes. St. Jude patients and their families fished for prizes, tossed rings, raced wind-up kangaroos, netted plastic butterflies that popped gently into the air, played the popular musical Swedish Chocolate Walk and spun wheels of trivia for the United States. Kids were invited to express themselves in arts and crafts activities by making puppets and were treated to face painting. Everyone at the festival received soft, cuddly plush animals in goodie bags, which were also distributed to inpatients, compliments of Kay Jewelers.
The festival was part of a special three-day visit to St. Jude by Kay Jewelers employees recognized for their high plush animal sales to benefit St. Jude during the 2009 Thanks and Giving® campaign.
