Rules for the St. Jude Ride
presented by Regions Bank
- All participants must be 12 years or older on race day (September 21, 2012). A registered adult AND legal guardian must sign a waiver of each participant between the ages of 12 and 18 years old.
- Each participant is required to raise a minimum of $100 in addition to the $50 registration fee. All fundraising is due before or at packet pickup and is required in order to receive your race number and timing chip. Please note: Donations mailed to St. Jude may take up to 10 business days to process. If you wish to mail your donations, it is recommended that you do so before September 5, 2012. Checks and other donations may be brought to packet pickup for credit.
- Each participant will be assigned a timing chip that will track the number of laps ridden during your time on the course as well as that of your teammates. Race timing will be managed by Start 2 Finish Event Management. For safety reasons, only one person per team will be allowed on the course at a time. Participants and teams will earn awards for the most laps completed in the following categories:
- Solo Division
- Two-Person Division
- All Male
- All Female
- Co-Ed
- Team Division
- All Male
- All Female
- Co-Ed
- Acceptable two-wheeled bikes include geared and fixed-geared road bikes, mountain bikes, beach cruisers, townie bikes, BMX or cyclocross. All bikes are required to have a fully operational coaster or cable-driven brakes. If you have a bike that does not meet these requirements, please contact Angela Fox at (901) 373-5051 for consideration. In keeping with Tennessee state law, all ride participants must wear a helmet when on the course.
- Headlights and tail lights are required for dusk until dawn riding.
- All riders must obey traffic laws.
- Running, rollerblading or any other use of the course, other than acceptable bicycles mentioned above, is strictly prohibited.
- Careless, reckless or inconsiderate riding will not be tolerated. After the first warning, the rider will be removed from the course for the remainder of the event.
