International Paper joined St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 2011, participating in the St. Jude Thanks and Giving® campaign through their Hammermill® brand.
To raise money, Hammermill sold select papers—two of which included patient artwork. Ten percent of these papers’ purchase prices benefited St. Jude, and in their first year of partnership, Hammermill set a minimum/maximum donation of $250,000.
In addition, Hammermill ran a Facebook campaign donating 25¢ each time a user “liked” Hammermill, including a $5,000 bonus when the number of new "likes” reached 5,000.
Hammermill’s participation in the St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign was not just remarkable but also personal. A long-time Hammermill employee’s son is a current St. Jude patient—making every dollar donated that much more meaningful.
