About the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System

The Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System is a not-for-profit healthcare organization comprised of hospitals, long-term care facilities, physician offices and outpatient clinics across the state of Louisiana. The Health System hospitals include St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette and St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales. The Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System has provided healthcare throughout the state for almost 100 years and today serves of 40% of the state’s population.


About the Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center

Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center is the largest hospital in Louisiana, with 852 licensed beds. Together with its affiliated facilities, the Lake serves a 12-Parish area centered in Baton Rouge and cares for more than 300,000 outpatients and inpatients each year. The hospital was established in 1923 by the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady, and is a member of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System, Inc. Its main campus in Baton Rouge occupies more than 100 acres with over one million square feet of building space.

The Lake provides a full range of coordinated services with over 4,000 employees and a medical staff nearing 1,000 physicians. From allergy and immunology to oncology to vascular surgery, the Lake boasts staff and programs covering more than 60 medical specialties. In addition, numerous innovative treatment programs and extended services address a wide variety of health- and lifestyle-related issues.

About the Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital

St. Jude partners with the pediatric hospital within the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System, which is the 2nd largest in Louisiana in pediatric volume. The Children’s Center is a 60-bed unit with a newly renovated 50-bed floor unit with two large nursing stations, and 10-bed, Level I, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The Medical Staff includes more than 100 pediatricians and family practice doctors. In addition, there are several doctors that specialize in various pediatric illnesses. These specialists include: Pediatric Intensivists (Critical Care), Pediatric Cardiologists, Pediatric Pulmonologist, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Neurologists, Pediatric Surgeons, Pediatric Neurosurgeon, Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologists and Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist.
