Some of America’s largest companies and organizations gathered in Lake Placid, N.Y., Oct. 16-19 to face the fast-paced mental and physical challenges of the BG US Challenge and raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Five former patients and survivors, also employees of ALSAC or St. Jude, teamed up this year to compete in the challenge. The St. Jude Patient Team -- Brian Doyle, Jeffrey Hunt, Joel Alsup, Lindsey Wilkerson and Scott Hinshelwood -- raised more than $9,000 for St. Jude. To date, the BG US Challenge has raised $1.86 million to support the lifesaving work at St. Jude.
This was the fourth year for the challenge, during which teams must strategize together to complete specific team-building objectives -- often while running, cycling or canoeing. Teams are encouraged to raise money for St. Jude, the event’s benefiting charity; the more funds the teams raise, the more clues and time bonuses they receive.
The Big US Challenge is part of the Intelligent Sport® World Series, a series of inter-business team-building competitions. The IS World Series Final will be held in December.
