The morning air was cold, but the coffee, rooms and hearts were warm at the Grand Opening of the new Memphis Grizzlies House!

January 5, 2004, marked a new era in St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's history as ALSAC Chief Executive Officer Richard Shadyac announced, "Now our children will not have to stay in hotels anymore, thanks to the Grizzlies!"  With that announcement the Memphis Grizzlies House became the latest addition to the ever-expanding campus of St. Jude and became the first on-campus living facility for St. Jude patients and their families.

The cold winter morning had many attendees shivering, but hearts were warmed as they watched the Memphis Grizzlies basketball players bounce down the aisles and onto the stage with the real stars of the day, St. Jude patients. This joyous occasion drew attendees from all walks of life -- St. Jude employees, City and County government officials, corporate business leaders and others from the Memphis community who love and support St. Jude.
