Since 2003, The Melting Pot has been a generous corporate partner, helping raise funds to support the lifesaving work of St. Jude. Since the partnership began, more than 140 of the company’s restaurants have raised funds throughout the year for St. Jude. On Feb. 2, The Melting Pot once again showed its loyal support to the hospital by bringing the fun of fondue to the kids of St. Jude.
Bob Johnston, chief operating officer of The Melting Pot, and 22 employees from the corporation visited the campus, met with hospital staff and families and toured the hospital before heading over to Target House to host a tasty event for the patients and families that was bubbling with fondue fun -- with plenty of fresh fruit, cake and melted chocolate ready for dunking and dipping. Richard C. Shadyac Jr., chief executive officer of ALSAC, the fundraising organization of St. Jude, warmly welcomed the guests, thanking them for their continued commitment to the mission of St. Jude.
At the event, The Melting Pot presented a check for more than $869,000, representing the funds they raised for St. Jude as corporate partners in the 2009 Thanks and Giving® campaign. After the presentation, guests, patients and families eagerly gathered around tables to color and chat with each other while munching on the irresistible fondue. A traveling magician warmed up the crowd just in time for the sing-along hosted by DJ Ricky Mac at the Jonas Brothers Karaoke Stage. The heart-warming event was a delicious treat for St. Jude patients and families, and helped everyone celebrate the sweet, successful partnership between The Melting Pot and St. Jude.
