On Aug. 19, Hot Peas ‘N Butter visited the hospital to perform at the Kay’s Family Corner for the kids of St. Jude. The band had a great time visiting with the patients as children and families danced, clapped their hands and sang along.
Hot Peas ‘N Butter, who have appeared on Nick Jr.’s Jack’s Big Music Show, is popular with children and adults alike for their catchy, sing-along tunes. The group was created in 2000 by Danny Lapidus and Francisco Cotto, both professional musicians in New York City. Winners of the 2006, 2008 and the 2009 “Parent's Choice Awards”, Hot Peas 'N Butter incorporates elements of traditional Latin music, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, jazz, folk and rock. The musical duo have also loaned their talents to the St. Jude Trike-A-Thon program by composing two songs about riding safety: Different Spokes for Different Folks (the Trike-A-Thon theme song) and Rayos Diferente, a Spanish language version.
