Doggy Daze for St. Jude

At St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, we recognize that we're not just treating a disease, we're treating a child. That's why once a week in the atrium of the Danny Thomas Research Center, children gather around a group of dogs as part of the Doggy Daze for St. Jude a program, which offers patients a welcome break from treatments to relax and interact with some furry friends.

Doggy Daze for St. Jude is sponsored by our Child Life program. Independent medical studies show that pets can actually improve the recuperation and recovery process for people with serious medical conditions. "It's a great way to help the children adjust to the hospital environment and incorporate daily activities that are typically a part of a child and family's routine," said Shawna Grissom, Child Life director.

St. Jude kids are often away from their homes and pets for long periods of time, and the unconditional love from these specially-trained dogs helps patients to cope and feel a sense of normalcy while fighting cancer.

Your generosity supports wonderful programs like our Doggy Daze for St. Jude program, helping our patients feel a sense of home once again. Thank you for your commitment to the children of St. Jude.
