Tri Delta Place serves as our primary short-term stay (1-7 days) facility and has the capacity to serve up to 100 families per night. Below are volunteer opportunities at Tri Delta Place.
Tri Delta Place Family Room volunteers will facilitate activities in the common areas. They will also make sure the Family Room is clean, presentable to the general public and well-stocked with toys, books and games as necessary. Volunteers will ensure that all toys are cleaned.
Requirements - Must be personable and have the ability to function independently and work effectively with others. Three to four hour shift, during an agreed upon time, Sunday–Thursday, between 3:30 pm and 9:00 pm.
Front Desk volunteers clerically support the staff at the front desk by helping families fill out paperwork, process data, answer phones and greet new families checking into Tri Delta Place, especially during high volume times. They help orient new families to Tri Delta Place, answer questions about the St. Jude campus, and assist with general clerical needs as they arise.
Requirements - Must be personable and have the ability to function independently and work effectively with others. Shift times available Sunday through Wednesday, anytime between 3:00 pm and 9:00 pm, or on Thursdays between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm.
PAWS (Providing Amazingly Wonderful Service)/Concierge volunteers are the volunteer face of Tri Delta Place. They stand at the front door to meet and greet families coming and going from Tri Delta Place. Volunteers assist with baggage during the check-in and check-out process, assist with registration paperwork, give house tours, provide courtesy calls, and help with other guest service’s needs.
Requirements - Must be very personable and have the ability to function independently and work effectively with others. Three to four hour shift, during an agreed upon time, seven days a week, anytime between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm. While performing the duties of this placement, the volunteer is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; kneel, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The volunteer must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Dinner/Craft volunteers assist getting the dining room ready for dinner, help serve dinner when needed, and help with clean-up. They also encourage children to engage in a craft activity and help to plan evening activities.
Requirements - Must be personable and have the ability to function independently and work effectively with others. Three to four hour shift, during an agreed upon time, two days a week, anytime between 3:30 pm and 7:00 pm.
Weekend Activities Co-Leader volunteer supports Tri Delta Place on the weekends by fully planning, coordinating, implementing, and leading recurring weekly patient and family activities at Tri Delta Place for those guests staying through the weekend with another partner volunteer.
Requirements - Must be personable and have the ability to function independently and work effectively with another volunteer and/or groups to carry out weekly volunteer activity. Three hour shift, during an agreed upon time, Saturday or Sunday, anytime between 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
Weekly Dinner Donors are groups, companies, or anyone who can donate dinner to our families and patients staying at Tri Delta Place to help make a more welcoming environment. They provide healthy meals for patients and their families, as well as entertainment and educational activities to add to patient diversion and support patient healing.
Craft/Activity Groups conduct crafts and activities at Tri Delta Place. We often coordinate these on the same nights as our house dinners. Previous activities include paint parties, scrapbooking, karaoke night, bingo, etc. Group Volunteers help make Tri Delta Place a more welcoming environment for our patients and families.
