AOL is making it easier for patients and families of St. Jude to stay connected. On April 7, David Cole, senior vice president of AOL Technologies, and 20 AOL team members presented 20 mobile laptop carts to St. Jude. The mobile carts are known as the AOL Connections Lab. Each cart comes equipped with a new laptop on a cart designed to fit conveniently over hospital beds and wheelchairs, to provide an easy and convenient way for children and their families to stay in touch with family and friends while inpatient at St. Jude. The laptops are customized with a full suite of AOL products, including AOL Mail and AOL Instant Messenger. The computers were donated to the St. Jude Child Life department.
To celebrate the official opening of the AOL Connections Lab, St. Jude patient Abby had the distinct honor of clicking a four-foot computer mouse. After the celebration, AOL treated patients, family members and staff to a free screening of Hotel for Dogs, a movie distributed by Dreamworks Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies starring Emma Roberts, Jake T. Austin, Lisa Kudrow, Kevin Dillon and Don Cheadle
