The 54th annual AutoZone Liberty Bowl once again scored a big win for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Each year, players and coaches from both teams visit St. Jude to sign autographs and visit with St. Jude patients and families. This year’s teams were no exceptions -- Tulsa’s Golden Hurricane and the Iowa State Cyclones, toured St. Jude before the big game.
The AutoZone Liberty Bowl was played on December 31 at Memphis’ Liberty Bowl stadium.
Motown legends The Temptations entertained the crowd during half-time. But the real star was St. Jude patient Ellen, who opened the 54th annual AutoZone Liberty Bowl with her rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Tulsa’s Golden Hurricane beat Iowa State 31-17, avenging a season-opening loss to the Cyclones.
