Meet St. Jude patient Gissel
4 years old
Tennessee
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia
When Gissel started to experience terrible headaches, her parents took her to the doctor, but he could not pinpoint the cause of the little girl’s pain.
Soon, Gissel developed spots on her face that were swollen and purple. Her family thought it was an allergic reaction, but another trip to the doctor revealed something more serious: Gissel suffered from acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common form of childhood cancer.
Gissel was referred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where she is undergoing chemotherapy.
She is a sweet-natured girl who loves to sing and dance and play with her dolls.
