Basic Science Fellowships

As both a large research institute and a specialized children’s hospital, St. Jude provides an ideal working and learning environment for trainees interested in basic, translational, or clinical research or in becoming physician scientists.

Physicians can focus on research during clinical fellowship training (see Clinical Fellowships) or they can choose to work full time in a basic science laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow.

For individuals who have completed graduate school or professional school (pharmacy, medical, dental, veterinary, etc.) and who wish to obtain up to five years of postdoctoral fellowship training in the basic biomedical sciences, St. Jude has approximately 60-80 openings per year. Fellows are funded above the current recommended NIH salaries and receive a generous benefits package including a Personal Development Account (PDA).
