I am formally trained as a Cell Biologist and throughout my career I have applied a variety of both light and electron microscopy techniques to my research. My experience with light microscopy includes phase-contrast and Nomarski-DIC transmitted light imaging techniques, and wide-field, confocal and multiphoton fluorescence imaging techniques. In addition, I have extensively used FRAP (Fluorescence Recovery after Photobleaching), FRET (Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer), FLIM (Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy), photolysis and ion imaging as well as intravital imaging and whole animal imaging. In addition, I have more than 20 years of experience managing centralized core facilities at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
