Memphis, Tennessee (May 6, 2011) – As Mississippi River waters continue to rise in the Memphis area, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is taking precautionary measures to ensure the continuation of services to its patients in the unlikely event of flooding.
There is currently no flooding on the campus of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and it is unlikely that the campus would flood. However, St. Jude is currently sandbagging key areas should flooding affect its campus.
Should any of the systems that are designed to protect St. Jude from flooding unexpectedly fail, the inpatient care facilities are not likely to be directly affected as they are located above the expected water level. St. Jude has identified areas of campus that could be impacted by water and is well-prepared to manage these contingencies.
