Give thanks. Ride: The 24-hour cycling event returns
Photography by Seth Dixon
The first annual St. Jude Give thanks. Ride™ 24-hour cycling event brought 186 bicyclists to Tom Lee Park in downtown Memphis September 23-24. While most participants were from the Memphis area, some came from as far away as Little Rock, Arkansas, and Nashville, Tennessee.
The bike event allowed solo bikers or teams to commit to 24 hours of riding a three-mile loop along Riverside Drive while raising money for St. Jude in the form of pledges and donations. The event appealed to the outdoor type by offering camping spaces overlooking the Mississippi River for the duration of the ride. Entertainment included several Memphis bands such as Dr. Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monsters, Mudflap King, and 2 Mule Plow. The event was a great success, raising $86,796 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
