Join Dora the Explorer in the search to cure childhood cancer

Dora the Explorer has a new adventure for her friends: helping in the fight against childhood cancer and other deadly diseases.

Dora is the new spokesperson for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's Trike-A-Thon program. Dora appears in two television spots on Nick Jr. inviting children to embark on a unique adventure to make a difference in the lives of others. Dora encourages her fans to participate in this fun, week-long program aimed at teaching children two important lessons: riding-toy safety lessons and giving back.

An international success, Dora the Explorer ranks among the top-rated shows in nearly every major market in the world including broadcast and cable. Dora is broadcast all over the world, syndicated to TV broadcasters in 135 markets and translated in 24 languages. Nearly 26 million people watch Dora every month including 7 million preschoolers.

More than 8,600 preschools and daycare centers nationwide participate in the Trike-A-Thon program. Through a series of interactive stories children will learn how to stay safe when riding their bikes or other riding toys and will raise money so St. Jude can continue its lifesaving work.

Parents help their children gain sponsorship to participate in Trike-A-Thon from friends, family and co-workers; all money raised is donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. (For more information about Trike-A-Thon, visit www.stjude.org/trike.)

Nick Jr. has been a loyal partner of St. Jude since 2007, and St. Jude is very excited to have Dora join the St. Jude family. Dora's association with the Trike-A-Thon program will mark the first time one of the channel's prominent characters has encouraged viewers to join the Trike program.

"Nick Jr.'s help in promoting the Trike-A-Thon program has been a tremendous benefit to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital," said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising organization of St. Jude. "And now, with one of their popular characters serving as the spokesperson for the program, even more families will learn about Trike-A-Thon and the program's role in helping St. Jude continue its lifesaving mission while providing important riding safety tips for young children."
