Chelsea Cooley – Miss USA 2005

Chelsea is a fashion marketing student from Charlotte, North Carolina, and is the first woman from her state to bring home the Miss USA® crown. Chelsea is currently a junior at the Art Institute of Charlotte, and says her dream job is to be a buyer for Ralph Lauren. She would also like to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. In her spare time, Chelsea, a self-described “tomboy,” enjoys jet skiing, snorkeling and following Major League Baseball. But her favorite pastime is shag dancing, a lively form of dancing consisting of hopping in turn on each foot. Chelsea has been a competitive shag dancer for 13 years. In addition to being a water sports nut and avid dancer, Chelsea is also dedicated to a number of charitable organizations. She has worked extensively with Toys for Tots, the Special Olympics and Flames to Blame, an organization designed to provide fire prevention education for all ages. As Miss USA 2005, Chelsea will spend the next year championing the official causes of MISS USA®, which include breast and ovarian cancer education, research and legislation. She will travel nationwide as an advocate for organizations such as the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, the National Breast Cancer Coalition, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and Gilda’s Club, among others.

Brenda Brabham – Miss Pennsylvania 2005
At the age of 16, Brenda entered in her first fashion show. From that point on, she would continue to model throughout the city of Philadelphia. Brenda graduated college cum laude with a Bachelor's of Science in Marketing. After college, Brenda pursued modeling full-time and moved to New York. She eventually returned to Philadelphia and entered the Miss Universe pageant system, winning her first pageant ever, the Miss Pennsylvania pageant. Brenda continued on to the Miss USA competition, where she finished top 10 overall. Brenda is currently modeling with an agency in Philadelphia and continues to do print, television, commercial and runway work.

Allison Bloodworth – Miss Mississippi USA 2003
Allison is from Grenada, Mississippi. She attended the University of Mississippi, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising.  Allison is currently employed at CH Robinson Worldwide in Memphis where she serves as an Account Manager. Allison’s pageant experiences include holding the title of both Miss Mississippi Teen USA in 1999 and Miss Mississippi USA in 2003. Allison enjoys volunteering around Memphis and is a Provisional member of the Junior League of Memphis.

Kaitlyn Christopher – Miss Indiana USA 2005
Kaitlyn is presented enrolled in Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis in pre-veterinary medicine classes. Kaitlyn's career ambition is to become a runway model and open her own veterinary office. She volunteers at George Washington Elementary School working with special needs children and also at Pals for Paws, an animal rescue organization. Kaitlyn is an IUPUI Dean of Faculties Scholar, IUPUI Freshman Service Scholar and VICA Interview Winner.

Amy Colley – Miss Tennessee USA 2005
Amy is currently a Junior at East Tennessee State University, majoring in Nursing. Upon graduation, Amy plans to pursue her Master’s Degree in Anesthesiology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Amy has been volunteering in her community for the past nine years, including volunteering at the Special Olympics in Bristol, Tennessee, helping coach events as well as giving out awards. Amy enjoys traveling, working out, water tubing, collecting Elvis memorabilia and watching “The Price is Right.”

Katie Conkle – Miss Georgia Teen USA 2005
Katie has been recognized with the President’s Education Award for Academic Achievement. While attending Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy, Katie played varsity softball and ran track. She hopes to attend Emory University and pursue a degree in the medical field. She lives in Hampton, Georgia, and is active in her community through her church and service activities. Katie is most proud of being a People to People Student Ambassador, representing Georgia and American teens across the world. She has visited Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Italy, France, England, Chile, Brazil and most recently, Antarctica. These adventures have afforded her some remarkable experiences, such as living with Aborigines, swimming the Great Barrier Reef, jumping off a cliff into the Mediterranean Sea and being trapped on an iceberg. Now a junior leader, Katie will be attending the Presidential Inauguration as part of the Student Ambassador delegation. In the Miss Teen USA 2005 Competition held August 8, she was a top ten finalist.

Amy Crawford – Miss Washington USA 2005
Amy is a graduate of the University of Washington with a Bachelor's degree in Arts, Media and Culture. She is currently working as an account executive with a cosmetics firm based in Los Angeles. Amy had competed for the title of Miss Washington for seven years in both the Miss America and Miss USA systems and was the first runner-up five times before winning Miss Washington USA last November.

Cristin Leigh Duren – Miss Florida USA 2006
Cristin is from Panama City Beach, Florida, representing the Emerald Coast. She is the first Miss Florida USA title holder in 55 years to have initially been crowned Miss Florida Teen USA. She graduated with honors from the University of Alabama with a degree in Public Relations and Computer Sciences, and now works as a pharmaceutical sales representative. Cristin is an accomplished dancer, gymnast, and aspiring model and television hostess.

Jill Gulseth – Miss Illinois USA 2005 (Third runner-up in the Miss USA pageant)
Jill is attending The University of Iowa, where she plans to receive a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's degree in Psychology. She hopes to work with staff members, children and their parents to improve children's well-being by giving more personal assistance to those in need. Jill has a strong commitment to the community where she spends much of her free time, serving the lives of others. She has logged over 550 hours of community service volunteering at various organizations, including a local hospital in Illinois, Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of America, Family Shelter Services and The University of Iowa Dance Marathon (Children's Cancer Foundation), where she acts as a Moral Captain Assistant to lead others in the fight for a cure.

Brittany Hogan – Miss California USA 2005 (First runner-up in Miss USA pageant)
The oldest of eight children, Brittany will continue her studies in the fall at Palomar College in San Marcos, working towards her International Studies degree. She is currently working with Invisible Children, a non-profit organization based in San Diego, whose goal is to expose the shattered lives of the children of Uganda, Africa, and to bring about change and justice in that region. Brittany stated why she wished to support St. Jude by saying "I am honored to be able to support an organization that is dedicated to bringing hope and life to a child, especially at St. Jude, where one child represents thousands saved around the world."

Suzanne Jackson – Mrs. Tennessee International, 2001
Suzanne graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in marketing. In 2002, she moved with her family to Cincinnati, where she started an interior design business. Her design work has been featured in magazines, on television and in national catalogs. Now back in Memphis, she and her husband are part owners of King Cotton Meats. Suzanne also serves on the Board of Directors for Mid-South Fair/ Libertyland and is the Coach for the University of Memphis Majorettes.

Meaghan Jarensky, Miss New York USA 2005
Meaghan comes from a large family living in Florida and New Jersey. She graduated from Pace University in New York with a Bachelor’s degree in International Marketing, and recently became certified as a holistic health counselor from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Meaghan plans to run her own healthy eating business, working with children and eventually pageant contestants. Meaghan currently works with the Block Institute, Youth at Risk, the Red Cross and GMHC.

Angela Johnson – Miss Tennessee USA 1991
Angela is an alumnus of the University of Memphis with a degree in Business Administration. She is currently an account manager for a copier dealership and has recently acquired her real estate license. Angela has also worked as a professional model and has appeared in several local and national print ads, commercials and runway shows.

Kristen Johnson – Miss Kentucky, 2005 (Second runner-up in Miss USA pageant)
Kristen graduated from the University of Kentucky summa cum laude with a 3.9 GPA. Most recently, Kristen has been pursuing modeling and acting. She has appeared on the NBC Early Show fashion segment and Spike TV. She also appeared on the Miss USA edition of Fear Factor, where she chose to donate any potential winnings to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Amanda Kimmel – Miss Montana USA 2005
Amanda is a design and art major currently working as a professional model and fitness professional. Recently, Amanda competed in front of 10,000 people at the Miss Kite of the World Competition in China, where she was a semi-finalist. In her spare time she enjoys singing, painting and drawing and working out.

Sarah-Elizabeth Langford – Miss District of Columbia 2005
Sarah-Elizabeth graduated from the University of Michigan in 2000, and from law school in 2003. She is currently participating in a fellowship in D.C. government. She completed in the Miss USA Fear Factor and won $50,000. Sarah-Elizabeth states “our children are our future and I am delighted to help any organization which is committed to enhancing the lives of children.”

Elizabeth Lynch – Miss Junior Teen Tennessee 2005
Elizabeth lives in Collierville, Tennessee, and is a 15-year-old honor student at St. Benedict at Auburndale. Elizabeth is an active member of the Key Club, Pep Club and the Shakespeare Association. Since Elizabeth became Miss Junior Teen Tennessee with American Coed, she has attended many charity and political events, and has also worked with youth groups, politicians and older citizens.

Sarah Medley – Miss South Carolina USA 2005
Sarah was recently named for the second time the state spokesperson for Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness, specifically shaken baby syndrome.  She also authored a cookbook The Queen’s Cuisine, which includes recipes from past Miss South Carolina USA and Miss South Carolina Teen USA  titleholders.  Proceeds from the cookbook will help fund programs that raise awareness of the prevention of child abuse. Sarah hopes to one day own and operate her own bed and breakfast, “The Medley Manor,” with her little sister Chelse.

Kristin Morrison – Miss West Virginia USA 2005
Kristin recently graduated from Marshall University with a degree in Business Management, and currently works as an agent/manager for a large insurance office in Barboursville, West Virginia. Kristin spends her free time organizing fundraisers and volunteering for charitable organizations, including a bingo fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and Relay for Life.  She was featured in Supermodels Unlimited magazine and can be seen in the upcoming issue of Southern WV magazine.

Jana Murrell – Miss Nebraska USA 2005
Jana is a native of Omaha, Nebraska, where she has lived most of her life. Upon applying to college, she received numerous scholarships and awards, including the Tuskegee Airman, the Links, the NSAA Believers and Achievers award, Teen Magazine’s Athlete of the Year award finalist and the CACE (concerned and caring educators) award. Jana decided to attend Creighton University, where she received a full academic scholarship.  After three years of undergraduate work, she applied to Creighton’s physical therapy program, was accepted and left her undergraduate studies early to enter the doctor of physical therapy class of 2006.

Cristina Nardozzi – Miss Massachusetts USA 2005
Cristina is a recent college graduate of Bridgewater State with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies.  She is an accomplished athlete, and displayed academic excellence in both high school and college. Cristina has traveled extensively across the United States and abroad, most recently to Athens, Greece as a tour guide for Sports Illustrated at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Cristina is currently pursuing television and modeling prospects while making plans to continue her education.

Carrie Norwood – Miss Ripley 1977
Carrie is a native from Ripley, Tennessee, home of the Tomato Festival, where she was Miss Ripley in 1977. Carrie, a graduate of Lambuth College, was a majorette at the University of Mississippi with the Ole Miss Band. Carrie and her husband, Walt, opened the Washington Street Bistro two and a half years ago in Collierville, Tennessee.

Tessa Reyes – Miss Tennessee Teen USA 2005
Hailing from Brentwood, Tennessee, Tessa is a recent high school graduate with a full scholarship from the Miss Tennessee USA organization to attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where she will study pediatric nursing. Tessa served on a mission trip to Mexico to assist in the building of an orphanage. She loves dancing, singing and working with children in any capacity. She would love to be able to use her pediatric nursing license to assist children in Third World countries with organizations such as the Red Cross or Doctors Without Borders.

Amy Robbins – Miss Collierville 2005
Amy is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Montevallo. She resides in Memphis, where she is an Account Coordinator with an advertising agency. An active member of the community, Amy has been involved with the St. Jude Marathon and March of Dimes Walk America. She serves as a youth advocate for the American Heart Association, promoting Heart Health Awareness among children and young adults and is currently training to run a marathon in support of her platform.

Laci Scott – Miss Oklahoma USA 2005
Laci is a native of Oklahoma, but has spent a significant part of her life in Tennessee. She is a Big Sister in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization of Oklahoma and works as a volunteer at the Hefner Area Nursing Homes. She also volunteers at the Red Andrews Christmas Dinner for the homeless of Oklahoma City. As Miss Oklahoma USA, Laci will be a spokesperson and volunteer for the Oklahoma chapter of the American Cancer Association. She is enrolled at the Francis Tuttle Vo Tech school of Cosmetology, where she plans on becoming a licensed cosmetologist. The cosmetology field will allow her to work her way through college, where she plans to study pre-med to ultimately become a dentist.

Candice Stewart – Miss Louisiana USA 2005
Candice is a former NFL cheerleader for the New Orleans Saints and is currently a senior at Xavier University of Louisiana. She is pursuing a career in speech language pathology and one day hopes to own a pediatric speech and language clinic. Candice enjoys volunteering in the community, working out, shopping, spending time with family and friends, and dancing.

Kristy Ann Street – Miss Hawaiian Tropic International Midsouth Regional Winner 2004
Kristy was born in Memphis and grew up in Collierville, Tennessee. In high school she was a cheerleader and gymnast, and her senior year, her cheerleading squad, the Memphis Elite, competed in the UCA national competition in Orlando and brought home the title of National Championship. Kristy is currently pursuing a career in modeling and has received her state licensure in the art of Massage Therapy. Kristy has volunteered in a number of benefits, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Target House and the Memphis Ballet.

Angel Whatley-Smith – Miss Mississippi USA 1998
Angel is a graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in political science. She was a majorette for the Famous Maroon Band, a member of Phi Mu sorority and a Diamond Girl for the Mississippi State Baseball team. Since hanging up her heels as a contestant, Angel has stepped into a new role as a judge, having judged such pageants as Miss South Carolina Teen USA, Miss Maryland Teen USA, Miss Missouri USA, Miss Mississippi USA and Miss Alabama USA. Currently, Angel is a pharmaceutical sales representative and lives with her family in Oxford, Mississippi.

Jeni Stephens-Thompson – Miss Tennessee 1996
Jeni is a communications and theatre graduate of Lambuth University. Crowned Miss Tennessee in 1996, Jeni served as the Governor’s Official Spokesperson for a Drug-Free Tennessee. Mrs. Thompson continues to remain active with the Miss Tennessee Scholarship Pageant. Currently she is the Director of Marketing and Development for the Memphis Bioworks Foundation. She serves as President of the Board of Directors for Court Appointed Special Advocates as well as a board member for Playhouse on the Square. Jeni was recently named as one of Memphis’ “Top 40 under 40” by the Memphis Business Journal.

 

Catherine Werne – Miss Tennessee United States 2004
Catherine began her pageant experience at 17, when she competed in her hometown of Collierville, Tennessee, for the Miss Collierville Scholarship Pageant, and has competed in pageants ever since, including Miss United States in Charlotte, North Carolina, Miss Teen International in Chicago and America’s Southern Teen in Louisiana.  Catherine is currently attending the University of Mississippi as a senior majoring in Broadcast Journalism. She is involved with her sorority, Chi Omega, and enjoys volunteer work.
