Model and television personality Daisy Fuentes, a strong supporter of St. Jude since 1997, made a return visit to the hospital on March 31 and April 1. Fuentes helped launch the FedEx/St. Jude Angels and Stars Gala in Miami and has served as the gala’s celebrity spokesperson.
Fuentes toured the hospital’s research facilities and medical laboratories where she learned more on the subject of immunology and also saw firsthand how St. Jude is working to find cures for cancers such as leukemia and other deadly diseases. She also had the opportunity to speak with St. Jude doctors who lead St. Jude’s International Outreach Program, which transfers the progress achieved in the treatment of childhood cancer in developed countries to those with limited resources.
Fuentes also toured Target House where she participated in an arts and crafts session with St. Jude patients. On another visit to the hospital, she visited with the children in the Intensive Care Unit, spending time comforting the kids with her warm smile and compassion for St. Jude.
