The nation’s top auctioneers brought their fast-talking skills and high energy to St. Jude Nov. 17 for the 14th annual Toy Auction, sponsored by the National Auctioneers Association (NAA).
During this exciting auction St. Jude patients and their siblings placed bids on the toys of their choice using auction paddles and play money. Kevin Borger and Terri Walker, 2009 champions of the International Auctioneer Championships, conducted the live auction with toys donated by the NAA. Scott Musser, NAA president, also attended and participated in the event. Every child left the St. Jude auditorium a winner, choosing a toy to take with them when the excitement of the auction concluded.
The NAA formed a partnership with St. Jude in 1995. Since that time, the NAA has led the auction community to raise more than $4 million to help the children of St. Jude. In 2007, the NAA launched a new fundraising initiative with annual St. Jude Auction for Hope events that are held in conjunction with National Auctioneers Day.
