College students across the nation working for St. Jude

Volunteers in Action Collegiate Milestones

Delta Delta Delta chapter members from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California,
celebrate their successful Fashion for Life runway fund-raising event which raised
$11,000. Tri Delta members and other college students around the country continue
to show their support for St. Jude.

“Staying awake for the kids' sakes” is the motto of Up ‘til Dawn, the St. Jude collegiate program hosted by more than 175 campuses nationwide. Pulling an all-nighter has never proven more fulfilling, as Up ‘til Dawn has collectively contributed more than $11 million to the life-saving treatment and research of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital since the program’s inception in 1999. Up ‘til Dawn campuses enlist the support of the entire student body to raise funds for and awareness of St. Jude through various fund-raising events. At the end of the campaign, students celebrate their fund-raising success and literally stay “Up ‘til Dawn” in honor of the patients of St. Jude. Up ‘til Dawn has emerged as the nation’s largest collegiate philanthropy program in terms of number of students participating and dollars raised.
In addition to the Up ‘til Dawn program, the Delta Delta Delta Fraternity has continued to devote itself to helping St. Jude. In November 1999, Tri Delta officially adopted St. Jude as its national philanthropy effort. Since that time, Tri Delta chapters across the country have raised money and awareness for the hospital in a variety of ways. In May 2005, Tri Delta completed its four-year, $1 million endowment of the hospital’s Teen Room – one year ahead of schedule and with an additional $300,000. Just recently, Tri Delta reached the $2 million mark in funds raised for St. Jude. Tri Delta members continue to support the hospital through softball tournaments, golf tournaments and their "Sincerely Yours" letter-writing campaigns. Tri Delta executive officers have made plans for the fraternity’s next project to support St. Jude, which will be announced at the Tri Delta national convention in July 2006.
