The MCTC Facility is a shared resource that assists St. Jude faculty in the design, conduct and interpretation of molecular assays of drug target expression and activity within prospective clinical trials.
More than 400 anti-cancer drugs are currently in clinical development. These include an increasing number of agents that modulate the function of specific molecular targets within cancer cells. Determining the expression and activity of molecular targets within clinical material is a critical component of the comprehensive evaluation of drugs that target these molecules. With this in mind, the Molecular Clinical Trials Core (MCTC) share resource was established at St Jude in 2003 to support the faculty in the planning and execution of drug target assays in clinical trials. Clinical material from more than twenty clinical trials has been analyzed by the MCTC since opening in 2003.
