Cancer Survivor Tobacco Quit Line study 60-second PSA (audio 2009)

Eighteen percent of adults who survived cancer as children smoke cigarettes. A new program from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is helping childhood cancer survivors break the habit. The Tobacco Quit Line study is free, confidential and open to survivors 18 and older. Participants receive up to six free counseling sessions as well as free nicotine replacement therapy. Counselors help participants prepare to quit, set quit dates and avoid relapses. The study is open to all childhood cancer survivors, regardless of where they received treatment. To qualify for the study, survivors should be at least one year from active cancer treatment and have received a diagnosis of cancer before age 21.
