Elvis tribute cards

This unique card signifies Elvis Presley's relationship with
Danny Thomas and St. Jude.
Before Danny Thomas could make his dream of building St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital a reality, he garnered the help of many people from all over the world. Rock ‘n’ roll legend Elvis Presley was one of Danny’s early supporters who lent his talents to help raise funds for the new children’s facility.
In 1957, Presley performed in one of Danny’s variety shows to help build the “little hospital in Memphis.” The success of the 1957 show prompted a series of Shower of Stars events beginning in 1970.
As the hospital expanded, Presley continued to support St. Jude by giving annual donations and gifts. In 1964 he purchased the FDR presidential yacht, the Potomac, and donated it to the hospital. The yacht was sold for $55,000 with the much-needed funds going to the hospital.
