A special celebration will take place on Saturday, May 18, as we roll out the red carpet to commemorate the 11th annual FedEx/ St. Jude Angels and Stars Gala. The gala will take place at the JW Marriott Marquis in Miami. This year’s event will honor former Miami Dolphin’s coach, Don Shula, and feature a special headline performance by renowned Colombian singer Carlos Vives.
The FedEx/St. Jude Angels & Stars Gala has raised $4.2 million in the past 10 years. This premier event celebrates St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s International Outreach Program (IOP). The mission of the IOP is to improve the survival rates of children with catastrophic diseases worldwide through the transfer of knowledge, technology, and organizational skills. The St. Jude IOP has 20 partner sites in 14 countries, mostly located in Latin America.
In previous years, our gala attendees have enjoyed a wonderful event featuring entertainment by some of the most recognized Latin singers in the world who have generously donated their time. Some of the renowned artists who have taken the stage in honor of St. Jude are Albita, Cristian Castro, Chino y Nacho, David Bisbal, Eduardo Osorio, Emilio Estefan, Fanny Lu, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Jose Feliciano, Luis Enrique, Luis Fonsi, Noel Schajris, Victor Manuel, and Willy Chirino.
The gala has also honored some of the most recognized and celebrated artists in Latin music and entertainment for their humanitarian work, such as Romero Britto, Juanes, Emilio and Gloria Estefan, Luis Fonsi, Juan Luis Guerra, and Tommy and Thalia Mottola.
We invite you to join us at this spectacular, nationally recognized gala.
No place in the world does for children what St. Jude does.
St. Jude has developed protocols that have helped push overall survival rates for childhood cancers from less than 20 percent when the hospital opened in 1962 to 80 percent today.
The daily operating cost for St. Jude is $1.8 million, which is primarily covered by public contributions.
During the past five years, 81 cents of every dollar received has supported the research and treatment at St. Jude.
