Havana Nights: 2012 Teen Prom

It was a special night for St. Jude patients and their siblings—one that featured limousine rides, red-carpet entrances and opportunities to experience a sense of normalcy during the hospital’s annual Teen Formal.

Before the big night began, the teen partygoers experienced salon treatment at the Target House residence facility as the girls had their hair, make-up and nails done while the boys donned sharp-looking tuxedoes. Patients and siblings enjoyed limousine rides to the hospital, where they were greeted by cheering employees who lined the red carpet entrance to the hospital’s Kay Kafe. This year’s formal was themed “Havana Nights,” and featured tropical-themed food and decorations and a performance from local salsa dancers.

The Teen Formal, sponsored by the Child Life Program, is held each spring at St. Jude and allows patients and their families to experience one of life's major events while away from home due to treatment.
