On April 15, author and illustrator Guy Gilchrist visited St. Jude to tour the hospital and share his creative talent with the kids. He set up an easel, grabbed his markers and sparked imaginations with a drawing lesson in the Kay’s Family Corner. Gilchrist learned to draw cartoons through one-on-one lessons with his mother Louise. So he enjoyed sharing his how-to techniques of basic cartooning with the eager crowd of budding artists. After the informal art lesson, Gilchrist autographed a few masterpieces created by the kids before stopping by the Medicine Room to visit with patients unable to attend his creative session.
A member of the St. Jude staff thanked Gilchrist for putting a big smile on the kids’ faces. "Not as big a smile as the one on my face just from being here," Gilchrist replied.
