The goal of our research is to understand how self-reactive T cells develop and induce autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and inflammatory bowel disease. We wish to identify a means to specifically target the harmful T cells, while sparing the useful T cells that are important for eliminating infectious pathogens.
