In November 1999, Delta Delta Delta Fraternity (Tri Delta) officially adopted St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as its national philanthropic partner. Since that time, Tri Delta chapters across the country have raised money and awareness for the hospital in a variety of ways.
In September 2002, Tri Delta agreed to a four-year, $1 million endowment for the hospital’s Teen Room, which was completed in January of 2005. The Teen Room provides a safe haven for patients to get away from parents, nurses and doctors and to be with kids their own age. It is equipped with Internet access, video games, stereos, and board games. It is a great place for teenagers to just be themselves.
Tri Delta has now taken on a new goal of raising $10 million in 10 years to name the Patient Care Floor in the new Chili’s Care Center. This floor allows patients who have undergone bone marrow transplants a place to recover. Each room has more space as well as an attached parent room with a full shower. This floor also has a Teen Room, Chlid Life playrooms and a Nintendo Wii in each room. In just three years, Tri Delta is more than halfway to meeting their goal.
To date, Tri Delta has raised more than $8 million for St. Jude. This success is only made possible by the deep commitment of the Tri Delta collegiate members and from the support of Tri Delta members across the country.
