St. Jude held its first Give thanks. Ride.™ event on Sept. 25. More than 300 riders hit the road for hope in this new and exciting cycling event to benefit the kids of St. Jude. This fun-filled event was created not only for families but also for the most serious cycling enthusiasts and featured three routes – 70-mile, 40-mile and 20-mile ride. The event also provided a family fun ride on a closed course for parents and children.
Riders began their treks on the campus of St. Jude and followed a route north toward Shelby Forest before finishing back at St. Jude. Some participants also registered through the St. Jude Heroes program. Through this program, participants were able to create personal fundraising web pages to share why they ride, to ask for support from friends and to track their fundraising progress. In its first year, the event raised more than $50,000.
