Pharmaceutical Sciences Laboratory Elective Rotation

This elective rotation is conducted in conjunction with the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at St. Jude. During this rotation experience the resident will have the opportunity to participate in a short-term research experience tailored to their specific career interests. Some example experiences include but are not limited to clinical pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modeling, performing pharmacogenetic studies to assess the relation between toxicity and tumor response in children with cancer, and conducting preclinical in vitro and in vivo experiments. Ultimately the focus is on translating results from the laboratory to the bedside or direct patient care to gain a better understanding of drug therapy in children with cancer.
