Driven by a passion for childhood, the Gymboree Corporation views its commitment to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as a corporate responsibility. Since Gymboree joined the St. Jude Thanks and Giving® campaign in 2006, committed team members have raised more than $6 million for the children of St. Jude. The Gymboree Corporation— featuring the Gymboree®, Janie and Jack®, Crazy 8®, Gymboree Outlet, Play & Music®, and Shade® brands—is a truly valued member of the St. Jude family.
In 2010, Gymboree increased the St. Jude presence in its stores and on its website, expanding the campaign to include Canadian stores. Each store featured unique fifth anniversary partnership messaging and in-store media incorporated a St. Jude video along with a message from Marlo Thomas. To make the experience even more memorable, children received coloring sheets featuring art by a St. Jude patient when parents made a donation.
Gymboree included St. Jude in direct mail sent to 2.4 million customers and created a second special-edition holiday doll to benefit St. Jude. The company’s Play & Music brand participated in St. Jude Thanks and Giving for a second year and increased awareness through a week-long Play-A-Thon fundraiser. This united effort resulted in a total of more than $1.5 million, the brand’s best year yet. Inspired by the momentum, Gymboree staffers also generously participated in employee giving, designating district and regional captains to motivate their teams, rallying employees around St. Jude by adding fun competitions among stores.
As the donation add-on program continued through 2011, Gymboree employees remained passionate about the St. Jude mission. Because of Gymboree’s unwavering commitment, children in communities everywhere have the promise of a bright and healthy future.
