Research Participant Advocate

St. Jude has a research participant advocate who supports research participants’ rights. This person works in the Office for Human Subjects’ Protection and serves on the Institutional Review Board, a committee that reviews the ethics of research studies. The research participant advocate will help answer any questions you may have about taking part in clinical research studies. This person will advise you about the informed consent process that is part of every clinical research project.

St. Jude makes the protection of human subjects a top priority. The research participant advocate also serves as a liaison with St. Jude doctors and other clinical staff members and will help you with any concerns or complaints that might arise from participation in research. If you have any questions about research rights, benefits, or risks, please call 901-595-4644 or send an email. If you are outside the Memphis area, dial (toll-free): 1-866-JUDE-IRB (1-866-583-3472) and ask for the research participant advocate.
